Le campagne italiane finaliste della nuova edizione degli Epica Awards

Era il 1987 quando Andrew Rawlins, che all’epoca era un ex pubblicitario, decise di dar vita a un premio che potesse offrire il giusto riconoscimento a chi operava nel campo in cui anche lui aveva lavorato. Per differenziarlo dai molti altri concorsi relativi all’advertising, pensò di creare una giuria formata unicamente da giornaliste e giornalisti specializzati in quella che viene comunemente denominata “industria creativa”.
Ad oggi gli Epica Awards sono ancora l’unico premio del settore assegnato esclusivamente dalla stampa, con oltre 150 firme della carta stampata e delle riviste online a votare ogni anno le campagne più interessanti.

In questa edizione l’onore è toccato anche a noi. Dopo una prima scrematura dei progetti, arrivati tramite una call, abbiamo potuto dare il nostro voto a quelli in competizione tra le molte categorie previste, alcune relative al contesto e al formato (ad esempio per i servizi online, o le campagne a tema sportivo), altre al linguaggio, alla tecnica e alla tecnologia (fotografia, illustrazione, stampa, uso dell’AI), altre ancora alla progettazione stessa (graphic design, packaging, identità visiva).

Per la prima volta, quest’anno, nella giuria — presieduta da Dagmara Szulce, direttrice esecutiva globale dell’IAA, l’International Advertising Association — si è “seduta”, in via sperimentale, anche un’Intelligenza Artificiale. Chiamata AIJE, cioè AI Jury Experiment, ha giudicato solo i testi di presentazione che accompagnavano i progetti, dunque l’idea creativa ma non l’esecuzione.
Noi umani, invece, abbiamo avuto la possibilità di visionare tutti i materiali: video, foto, grafiche, presentazioni. O meglio, quasi tutti, visto che per evitare il potenziale rischio di farsi influenzare, giurate e giurati non potevano valutare le campagne provenienti dal proprio stesso paese.
Noi, quindi, per le campagne italiane non abbiamo votato.
Possiamo tuttavia svelare i progetti italiani finalisti. Sono 21 e concorrono per 39 premi (ciascuno può partecipare in più di una categoria). Dietro ci sono perlopiù grosse agenzie, a volte dei colossi con sedi in tutto il mondo, ma non mancano realtà anche più piccole.

Di seguito li trovate tutti, mentre l’intera shortlist si può vedere qui.
Piccola curiosità: il paese con più progetti in lizza, tra gli oltre 50 che hanno portato in finale almeno una campagna, è il Canada, seguito da Germania, Francia, Regno Unito e Stati Uniti.
La premiazione si terrà il 7 dicembre prossimo.
